Married

1.) What qualities attracted you to your Wife/Husband and why?

Jenise - He’s so charming. He’s genuinely nice and will go out of his way to help a friend or a stranger. He has a gorgeous smile that makes me want to smile. I’ve been drawn to him since I was 9 years old and in high school he was the only “big brother” that I had. He just cared so much about me and liked me for me. He just loved hanging out with me and never ever made me feel like he wanted more. I never felt pressured into doing anything I didn’t want to. He’s a perfect gentleman with a manly edge that I just love.

Chenita - Besides the fact that my husband is very sexy, he has always been able to make me laugh. He’s very sweet and easy going. He doesn’t get stressed easily

2.) How long have you been married and what has kept you and your spouse together?

Chenita - We have been married for 3 years feb. 26. The only thing that has kept us together is God. The fact is my husband allows me to be me. I try to love him in spite of all the ways I think he should change. Lol

Jenise - We’ve been married for two years and love, trust, faith, and God has kept us together. We’ve been through a lot in our years together, but we both know that they were tests to get us where we are now. We appreciate, love, and support one another. We’re not afraid to be honest, nor afraid to apologize. We keep each other in mind and work together to make big decisions. And we always communicate even if it’s hard or we need to pause and get our thoughts together first. We laugh together and dream together. I cry (often) and he holds me. We were best friends before we got married and we still are.

3.) What part does faith play in your marriage and why?

Jenise - Faith plays a large part in our marriage. We both believe in the same God and both have questions about our faith that we can talk about. Because he’s in the Navy and leaves for large amounts of time sometimes, faith is what keeps us grounded. We pray together and pray for each other. We thank God for each other. Sometimes when something is so right, negative people will try everything to break it down. Our faith in God and each other allows us to ignore the haters and trust one another.

Chenita - When I feel like giving in and giving up, I think about how I would feel if I was on the outside looking in and how many times I may have disappointed God. I believe that God has me and my husband together for a reason. We are oil and vinegar…you only get salad dressing if you shake things up.

4.) If you could change one thing about your Husband/Wife what would it be?

Chenita - For him to think about me, when he thinks about himself. I might want a sandwich too.lol

Jenise - I wish he would be more careful at times. He likes fireworks and cooking without oven mitts and we’re both pretty accident prone, but he already has a dangerous job so I worry. I wish he would finish his prescriptions when he gets sick, but I guess if he did then I wouldn’t have anything to nag him about.

5.) What do you remember most about your wedding day?

Jenise - I remember him pushing cheesecake in my face even though I warned him not to. Try getting that stain out of a wedding dress. And the bridal party was in oriental attire and he and his best men had on tennis shoes. I loved that because it was our wedding and we did things true to us. We had wedding cupcakes instead of a traditional cake. Of course I remember the vows, the tears, and the guests, but the cheesecake in the face and him standing across from me then next to me is the best memory of that day that I have.

Chenita - The way my husband looked at me while we were saying our vows. Aww.
