DARFUR: A NATION in CRISIS By: Meechi meechi@excapethematrix.com
This is a call for help. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and
children are being killed every month due the ongoing conflict within
Darfur. Millions have been displaced, thousands raped, brutally beaten,
lack proper medical care and face the daily ravishing pangs of
starvation.
"The people of Darfur are our brothers and
sister…"
The world stood by once as Rwanda (1994) lost millions due to a mass
killing of its people, and it is happening again. What are we going to
do about it? Do we sit back and watch the evening news and forget about
it before dessert? Do we continue about our daily lives and forget about
the women being taken against their will or the child that has been
kidnapped and forced into battle? How inhumane.
"…hundreds of thousands are being killed…"
It is in these crucial times that I find us to be most hypocritical. "Am I my brother’s keeper" resonates through my head as the answer, "Yes I am!" tortures my conscious. The people of Darfur are our brothers and sisters of the human race and we have a responsibility to cry out against the injustices of oppression and degradation.
Please go to your pastors, rabbi or clergyman and ask what your
religious organization is doing to assist in the decrease of violence
and murder against God’s children. Speak to your community leaders,
write them letters and demand a call to action. Start a blog, email your
friends and get your community talking and putting those words to
action.
"The world stood by as Rwanda lost millions…"
