Two Words: Lady… Gaga…

In today’s pop music, we have the Beyonces, Rihannas, Britneys & Mileys… but, for the past two years, Lady Gaga has earned a place in the same galaxy. The woman is talented: she has her own company (Haus of Gaga), writes her own music, plays the piano eXceptionally well, and sings & dances simultaneously. But, she is mostly known for her fashion forward statements & over-the-top charisma. There has not been anyone in the music industry to push as many boundaries, in terms of image, since Madonna’s “Vogue” in 1990 (twenty years ago). Gaga has earned respect from her peers & fans for being sexually provocative and not giving a hell. Below is Lady Gaga’s transition into a superstar:
Is that Gaga?! Yes it is, before reaching International status as the racy & risqué music star we know today, Gaga was locally known as Stefani Germanotta in NYC. This was long before she ever thought to wear zippers on her eyes or even a bedazzled orthopedic cask around her neck, but she still had the over-the-top personality that everyone has fallen in love with. |
This Viktor & Rolf football-inspired piece put Gaga on the map & she made it known that she’d become the next rising star. But, what actually makes this outrageous ‘costume’ work is the bow she made out of her own weave… guess she was bored with an actual hair bow and thought this look would be innovative. Well, she was right! |

Even a day out in Paris, Gaga is setting trends with her usage of oversized shoulder pads. This fad is now worn by Rihanna & Beyonce, respectively. |
|
In November, Gaga appeared at Best Buy for an autograph signing for her second album, The Famed Monster, dressed in an Alexander McQueen black number with “Hunchback of Notre Dame” shoulder pads. |
|
At the MTV Video Music Awards, Gaga accepted her award in a red lace Alexander McQueen dress with a tiara on her head. The look was inspired by the death of Princess Diana: the red lace represented Diana’s blood. |
