TS: Hey, sir. Thank you for joining me this evening. I know you are a busy man so this means a lot.
M/X: Not a problem, sir. I’m glad to be a part of this interview.
TS: Good stuff…well let’s get down to business, shall we? The first question I have would be who are Marquis and XXX-TASY?
M/X: Well,
Marquis is very business oriented on a day-to-day basis. He is very
professional, laid back and somewhat shy. XXX-TASY is very seductive, loves
attention and he’s very outgoing. His mission is to play out someone’s
fantasy. He has a passion to please and entertain his audience, whether it be
women or men.
TS: How was the name XXX-TASY created?
M/X: I originally didn’t start with the name XXX-TASY. My name was originally ‘Body’ but there were so many dancers who had that name so I needed to find something different and unique. Actually, the first club that I ever danced [in] was known for people to do the drug, ecstasy, so I thought it would be a good name for me but, I just changed the spelling of name so I could get the attention from people.
TS: What’s a typical day for Marquis and XXX-TASY?
M/X: Marquis’ typical day is working a regular eight-hour day and then after work unwinding by sipping on wine and listening to music. XXX-TASY’s typical day is just the opposite. He checks out his booking for shows, practices his moves, checks out his costumes and gets his mind and body ready for entertaining.
You have to be mentally and physically prepared to handle this profession…
TS: Does Marquis need to meditate to become XXX-TASY?
M/X: It takes a few minutes to become XXX-TASY. He takes a lot out of me and it can become overwhelming at times because XXX-TASY loves the attention. That’s the world of XXX-TASY.
TS: What’s the difference between a stripper and an exotic dancer?
M/X: Well I’m an entertainer who is an exotic dancer. A stripper is someone who doesn’t have any class in what he or she does. A stripper can have a bad reputation in the eye of others because they carry themselves with no class. An exotic dancer is someone who performs with class and conducts themselves as such. An exotic dancer performs in a more respectable manner than a stripper.
TS: When did you realize that you wanted to get into this profession?
M/X: I always wanted to be an exotic dancer ever since I was in high school. I wasn’t always in the best shape to be an exotic dancer. After high school I decided to hit the gym hard and get my body nice and tight. I saw an ad one day in the city paper advertising the need for a go-go dancer. I met with the owner of the club, he liked me and I danced the following week.
TS: What do you enjoy most about your profession?
M/X: I love being able to entertain the audience. I love the attention and the fantasy that I’m able to bring as an entertainer.
TS:
How do you keep your body in shape?
M/X: I work out five days a week at my job during my lunch break. I am also a certified spin instructor, so I do that also to keep myself in shape. I even work out when I’m traveling, so I keep it consistent.
TS: Have you ever considered modeling?
M/X: I actually have modeled before with a few local companies here in Baltimore and out of the country. Right now I’m just focused on dancing; if modeling comes back to surface than I may consider going back to it.
He takes a lot out of me and it can become overwhelming at times because XXX-TASY loves the attention.
TS: Does your family/friends support your profession?
M/X: Actually yes, my family supports me with my profession.
TS: What are your dreams and aspirations outside of your profession as an entertainer?
M/X: I have a very secure day job where I plan to retire.
TS: How do Marquis and XXX-TASY handle rejection?
M/X: Marquis can handle rejection but XXX-TASY can’t! He feels that shouldn’t be rejected because he has worked really hard to be a great entertainer.
TS: How long have you been entertaining/dancing?
M/X: I’ve been an entertainer/dancer for five years.
TS: What makes XXX-TASY different from any other entertainer?
M/X: His style of dance and costumes is what makes XXX-TASY different. He’s very seductive and stylish with his dancing techniques.
TS: Do you receive more support from the gay community or the heterosexual community?
M/X: It’s actually equal. It doesn’t matter to me; it’s about entertaining the audience.
TS: Is being a dancer/entertainer a competitive profession?
M/X: I personally don’t think it’s competitive; it’s all in what you make it.
TS: Do you feel male dancers/entertainers receive the recognition they deserve?
M/X: No, I don’t think so. I believe a lot of people judge us because of our profession.
TS: What would people be surprised to know about Marquis and/or XXX-TASY?
M/X: People would be surprised that Marquis wants to have a family in the future and XXX-TASY wants to be a well known entertainer all over the country.
TS: What advice would you give those who are interested in becoming an exotic dancer/entertainer?
M/X: Make sure it’s something that you really want to do. It’s not just about taking your clothes off. You have to be mentally and physically prepared to handle this profession, have to be able to handle criticism and have an open mind for this business.
TS: Well sir, I want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me and conduct this interview.
M/X: Thank you, man, I really appreciate this opportunity. It was fun.
TS: Well this is Teronce Styyles, Fashion Editor of Excape the Matrix. Until next time, remember that Fashion is not a Luxury.
