Softly, boldly or simply spoken, once a word escapes the grasp of tightly pursed lips, it can never be erased. But if a word reaches the depths of the soul, it can spark forward movement into the lives of many. Masterfully invoking the English language with exactness and precision is a particular art form that leaves people with a certain intimacy that may suggest the further pondering of their deepest thoughts and desires. Words nag at the left hemisphere of your brain and either provide you with the peace needed to give you closure or may often spark a nerve to continue with the same momentum as before. Words breathe life into dead souls or soothe the hearts of brokenness. Creatively spoken, words exude power. 

There was an unprecedented need to reach out and touch the hearts, minds and souls of those struggling and suffering in silence.

The hustle and bustle of our daily lives often leave little or no time for extending ourselves as we enrich the lives of others. In an effort to boost ourselves emotionally, we utilize e-cards, emails and text messaging instead of involving ourselves in the process of thoughtful gestures with words. The effervescent feel of sincerity through personal greeting cards has somehow escaped the minds of many. 

In search of a source of strength and peace, people are looking for a sense of comfort and a spark of interest in things that will raise their level of consciousness while soothing the soul.  Creativity is soothing as well as healing because it allows one to see things from another perspective, one that may not have been considered in another setting or under different circumstances. 

Carving out time to reach out to loved ones and strengthen our personal connections helps to boost our emotional well-being.  Connecting with friends and family doesn’t have to take a lot of effort and it is often the simple, small gesture that has the most impact when it comes to showing someone how much you care. With all the stress in people’s lives today, that small oasis of contentment is something we need now more than ever. 

Cre8tive Cafe, Inc., a handcrafted, non-traditional greeting card line was birthed from the desire to heal hearts, minds and souls, one greeting at a time. The handmade greeting cards celebrate moments that are often forgotten with celestial verses that provide a soulful flavor. 

Missing on the shelves of stationery stores were cards that spoke on surreal topics.  Absent from shelves were the cards with topics for people with real pain. There was an unprecedented need to reach out and touch the hearts, minds and souls of those struggling and suffering in silence. Women of all ethnicities were starting over, getting divorced, struggling with single parenting, co-parenting, suffering with low self-esteem, brokenness, domestic violence, addiction, mother/daughter relationships, sexuality and financial strain. Where were the cards for that?  Greeting cards keep people connected.   

Masterfully invoking the English language with exactness and precision is a particular art-form that leaves people with a certain intimacy that may suggest the further pondering of their deepest thoughts and desires.

The cards are created with the realization that a greeting card in the mailbox not only brightens someone’s day but can instantly connect them emotionally to friends and family.  In 2005 while in the center of my dining room and surrounded by an eclectic, diverse team of creative energy, I saw a pressing need to celebrate topics that were often disregarded or seen as politically incorrect. And so there would be handmade sentiments, adorned with keepsakes that extend emotional support and sincerity for some of the harsher times or most vulnerable states in people’s lives.  

With special brightly colored card stock that is richly decorated with decorative charms,  ribbons or handwritten envelopes, they stand out among piles of magazines, solicitations and bills. This was to serve as a reminder that someone has taken the time from their day to reach back to show they care.   

In search of truth with a “down home” feel, these cards are created in love with compassion for women whose significant other was locked away in prison, the young girl wrestling with virginity or for that young woman who is reunited with her long lost father.

In comparison to a wonderful childhood memory that can be recalled countless times over, you can feel the fabric on the cards and re-read the words.  The cards are created to provide an emotional healing. A healing that is as refreshing as a cool drink of water on a blistering summer day while humming to the tune of peace and embracing a sense of pride, hoping to offer inspiration and hope.  Drenary L. Foster’s soul purpose in life is to celebrate, encourage and inspire others to improve and progress.  Words that are creatively spoken and widely received allow the exploration of a possible change, the possibility of new beginnings and a deeper understanding of self.
