“Today is Where Your Book Begins…”
Written by: Chenita “Infinite Apex” Dickerson
“Drench yourself in words unspoken. Live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins. The rest is still unwritten…”
--Natasha Bedingfield, “Unwritten”
Every time I hear this song I want to write. I want to write about my life, every hurt, pain, joy, sorrow, accomplishment and overcome hurdle. This song has a way of taking away the excuse for not beginning a new day, starting out fresh today with the hope of tomorrow being a new chapter in the novel of me. Often we indulge in chocolate, shopping, and relationships… Why not ourselves?
No one can hear you if you don’t say anything.
If we look at life like a book and not “a box of chocolates”, as Forest Gump put it, it would be easier to get through the bad chapters of our lives and remember the awesome ones. Anyone who has ever read an excellent page turner normally can’t wait to see what the next page or chapter holds; we want to know how it all turns out in the end and what leads to climax and conclusion. Life is filled with and full of unexpected twists and turns, slow pages, sometimes boring chapters, but we still must strive to turn the page and write the next sentence to ultimately get to the end.
Have a hand in writing your everyday, ensuring no one dictates your outcome and edits your life. Live life expecting good things to come and they will. Setbacks are setups: just detours due to minor road blocks. Delayed is never denied.
Often we indulge in chocolate, shopping, and relationships… Why not ourselves?
Starting today, read a book, write a blog, spit your poetry, and just get up to begin to begin again. No one can hear you if you don’t say anything. Pour you onto a page and discover how opening your arms, (i.e., notebook), and displaying sentences from your life story can be an excellent way to re-evaluate and refocus your life. Each day is a new page in the story of life…
