Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better…
Male verses Female Dynamics

Written by: Chenita “Infinite Apex” Dickerson

I remember the commercial that came out years ago with athletes from different sports featuring males and females. The thoughts that ran through my head then were, “Women can do it better, of course.”

Gender competition has been around since the beginning of time. The only thing that men can’t do that we can is have a menstrual cycle, carry a baby and deliver it. We can pee standing up; it just won’t make it in the toilet. Other than that, we have competed in everything.

My son said everything was invented by men… My daughter said, “But, we carry man…”

Women were once known to be the cooks in the family, but most of the top chefs in the world are men. Females did each others’ hair, but the top stylists are men. We can slam dunk and tackle with the best of them, but nationally recognized is male basketball and football. If presented with a boo boo, mom always took care of it, but the top surgeons are men, also. Mending and sewing was a housewife’s chore. Many top designers are freaking men. We can equally handle whatever tasks are put in front of us, but men’s salaries are normally higher than a female for the same position. We start it and males run with it, so males may be better at stealing our ideas.

Competition is healthy. I mean, you are only as good as who you compare yourself to. I recently attended a WOW customer service class for the company I work for and the teacher said that when she was younger she was eXcellent on the girl’s basketball team, but since she was taller than all the other females on the team, basically she didn’t feel challenged. She went so far as to sneak into the boy’s locker room and to try out for the boy’s team because she knew she was good enough. She made that team and after convincing her dad to let her play as the first female to play on the boy’s team she went on to led that team to the championship that year.

We can equally handle whatever tasks are put in front of us, but men’s salaries are normally higher than a female for the same position. We start it and males run with it, so males may be better at stealing our ideas.

There are multiple stories of women who years ago dressed up as men to enter careers, sports, even the military just to prove that they were just as good, if not better than their male counterparts. Men are now attempting to be househusbands and stay-at-home dads and they are faced with the thought of, “Am I better than my wife at this?” (Of course not, but they do okay.)

I know that I am biased in writing this article, because I sing the song all the time… “Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you. No, you can’t. Yes, I can. No, you can’t. Yes, I cannnnnn!” My son said everything was invented by men… My daughter said, “But, we carry man.”
