History of the Astrological/Natal Charts
Written by: T.C Mack
Have you ever met someone, and through their mannerisms and personality, you’re able to speculate exactly which sign of the Zodiac they fall under? I do it all the time!
It is believed that the positions of the Sun, the Moon, and each of the planets within the houses of the Zodiac can give us powerful insight into the compleXities of our emotions and how we connect to one another, as well as to our solar system. Western astrology typically categorizes these 12 houses as Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Each house is said to be ruled or governed by different life energies and manifestations that can unlock your true potential.
A Natal Birth chart graphs the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets according to which “house” they are located in at your exact date and time of birth. An accurate Natal Birth Chart offers a remarkably deep understanding into the true nature of all aspects of your personality, including emotions, strengths and weaknesses, possible obstacles encountered during your lifetime, or even what truly drives and motivates you. Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto each have traits unique to its location in any particular house.

Astrological readings according to the 12 basic Sun signs are important to the overall analysis of individuality; however, they usually offer a "watered down" version of the real thing, reflecting only traits specific to the position of the Sun at your time of birth. Part of the reason why Western astrology is not widely accepted is due to this fact. In all reality, the Moon’s position is of equal, if not greater importance because the Moon affects personality and temperament from an emotional standpoint, usually determining how a person will emotionally handle characteristics associated with their Sun Sign.
For eXample, a person with a Sun in Aquarius and a Moon in Virgo (such as myself) may identify with the flighty, intelligent, humorous, unpredictable, and freedom-loving side of the Aquarian overall, but the Virgo Moon keeps them grounded in day-to-day life of running errands, micromanaging, truth seeking, and investigating everything! Your Natal Chart can become an important tool in recognizing and striving for balance in your life.

All you need to start the process of creating your own natal chart is your date and eXact time of birth, as well as the birth place. Of course, all of these things can be found on the original copy of your birth certificate, providing you still have it. If not, there are free reports that will calculate this for you estimating a 12 noon birth time. You only need to know date and place. These are not as accurate, but still give you a great description of the basics.
Each house moves one degree every four minutes, so everyone’s chart is unique and different. Imagine the possibilities!
Even if you’re not a believer in Astrology, I strongly suggest you try getting at least a free generalized natal chart reading like I did. I’m certain it will open a few doors to insightful analysis of yourself, your emotions, and possibly those around you, as well.
