When it comes to what is considered parts of the field of the humanities, there are a great deal of individuals who can say with their chests puffed out and their heads held high that they truthfully contributed to their respective crafts ( i.e. literature, visual arts, politics, philosophy, ect.), especially today in the information age where everyone with a gift can place it on display thanks to the World Wide Web. But very few individuals are given credit for attempting to advance culture and even fewer who succeed.
To be truthful, as a musician and poet, I wanted desperately to do what I could to advance the arts. Not only display my own, but to open the eyes of the world to those glossed over by mainstream interests. eXcape The matriX provided that platform. As a founding staff writer, I not only had the chance to do my part in this attempt, I had the chance to work with extremely talented individuals who (In their own ways) wanted to do the same.
So it is with this that I am saddened to see the end of ETM but I am eXtremely pleased with what was accomplished...So far. I say, "So far..." because the seeds sown after the very first issue of ETM are still sprouting new life, from the contributors as well as from the readers.
This has been the eXperience of a lifetime,
Derrick I. Warren
